Cassandra warned the Trojans that taking the Trojan Horse into the city would turn out badly, but was not believed. She was loved by Apollo and given the gift of prophecy, but when she refused his love he condemned her to the fate of always being right but never being believed. Salome danced before King Herod who promised to give her whatever she wished; she asked for the head of John the Baptist, and got it on a plate (Mark, 6:21–29).
